I came across this picture a couple of days ago and I’ve been contemplating it since. It’s the work of Erik Johansson, and it brought to mind the concluding lines of Robert Frost’s famous poem, The Road Not Taken.
And perhaps at times, not just taking the road less traveled by, but making our own way. There is something very powerful about the idea of taking control of one’s life and directing its course; creating and taking ownership of one’s future, rather than passively watching life unfold. Unfortunately, too often I sit back and let the winds toss me where they will, rather than digging my heels in and choosing a direction and destination to journey towards.
Here’s to choosing a direction, and making my way there.
