Miss Representation

Last night I went to a screening of the film Miss Representation.  Miss Representation is a documentary that examines the role of the media in both creating and disseminating a particular (demeaning and marginalizing) narrative about a woman’s value and her role in society, and the devastating effect that has on women as individuals and society as a whole.  I’m still processing the thoughts and feelings I have on the subject, especially as to how they tie in to the role and value of a woman within my own religion and its attendant culture.  One of these days perhaps these thoughts and feelings will gel into something that I will discuss here.  Until then, please enjoy the trailer, and, if you have the chance, watch the film in its entirety!
